I’m against activism. That doesn’t mean I don’t think there are worthy causes, but you should be wary of the organizations that support the causes. When you join an organization, it affects your identity and they’re subject to dogmatism. In college, there was a group called the 80/20 Initiative that tried to recruit students. This group believed that Asian Americans didn’t have political power because the votes were spread out fairly evenly among the political parties. They believed that 80% of Asians had to vote as a block in order to get politicians to support Asian causes.
