Creativity and Time
An infinite player does not begin working for the purpose of filling up a period of time with work, but for the purpose of filling work with time... Work is not a way of arriving at a desired present and securing it against an unpredictable future, but of moving toward a future which itself has a future.
James Carse, Finite and Infinite Games
When we consume, we fill up time. I have an hour before I need to leave, I'll watch YouTube videos. I'll read until I fall asleep. I'll play video games until it's dinner time.
But when we create, our schedules expand around our creating. Creating becomes our focus, our priority. Everything else fits around it.
Creating is when we're interested in something, rather than distracting us from something that we're not interested in.
