Most of the advice from courses is overrated but the motivation from courses is underrated.

Learning is an experimental journey.  Because your circumstances are going to be different from other people, you won't be able to apply the directives directly to your situation.  Take putting IKEA furniture together for example.  Even though everyone is putting the same pieces together, everyone's experience is different.  You have to "figure out" the instructions.

But the overlooked value is that no one would start putting the furniture together unless the instructions were there.  A "can-figure-it-out" attitude gets the job done, but the value-add is knowing that it's possible.
