I heard people disparaging listening to podcasts at 2x speed as “listening to chipmunks.” I feel these people have a superiority complex and believe they are more “present.”
People have different rates of listening comprehension.
You’re not going to retain all the information in a podcast - the point isn’t to memorize all the facts in the podcast.
Listening to podcasts allows me to connect ideas in the podcast to ideas and experiences in my life. I don’t need to hear every single word perfectly for this.
It could also be an *inferiority* complex - maybe they're jealous that they can't consume podcasts at 2x speed. I know I can't. Those damn chipmunks... 🤣 I should be able to, though... my name IS Alvin...
I like Overcast's "Smart Speed" feature, that adapts the speed depend on the pace of the speaker
