Karl von Frisch won the Nobel prize in 1973 for studying how bees dance. Bees dance… and that’s important? The waggles a bee performs are actually a matter of survival. Bee colonies depend on dancing to determine whether to look for new fields of flowers or to return to the field they’re currently harvesting. To ensure the health of the colony, bees use dancing to answer an important question: whether to explore or exploit.
Chris! You nailed exactly why I found my past newsletter niche (for founders) so dry. I'd been exploiting for 20 years...that field. And just writing more about it felt souless...even though I really believe in helping other founders. Thank you for this huge insight !!!!
Whew what a powerful essay Chris!
Love the analogy of Bees dancing. I also struggle with niching down.
It's why I called my newsletter Idea & Execution.
Similar to the explore & exploit movements of bees, idea & execution discovers ideas and explains how to execute on them.
